The Penne Ferrell Award Guidelines

Who is eligible to apply for the award and how often?
  • A non-Delta Kappa Gamma member who is in her first or second year of teaching and who may become a prospective Delta Kappa member.
  • A teacher is eligible to apply once a year if she has not been a prior recipient.
What does the award fund?
The award will be used to finance the cost of books for a classroom library or books to support a classroom curriculum project. The recipient may receive an award for an amount up to but not exceeding $250.00

The Seven Purposes of Delta Kappa Gamma

  1. To unite women educators in a genuine spiritual fellowship.
  2. To honor women who have given or who evidence a potential for distinctive service.
  3. To advance the professional interest and position of women in education.
  4. To initiate, endorse and support desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interest of education and of women educators.
  5. To endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to women from other countries.
  6. To stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action.
  7. To inform the members of current economic, social, political, and educational issues so that they may participate in effectively in a world society.
